The story of Ola and Andriy

Founders of Pierogarnia Ze Smakiem

A story that tastes of love

Some establishments are opened for the sake of business. And some are born from a dream that goes through trials.

That's just how history is. Pierogarnia Ze Smakiem. It was created by Andriy and Olya – people who believed in their cause so strongly that they didn't stop even when it was very difficult.

Like many entrepreneurs, their journey was not easy. There were moments of uncertainty, doubts, financial challenges, sleepless nights, and decisions that had to be made every day. But they did not give up on their dream. On the contrary, each difficulty only strengthened their desire to create a place where people would come not only for food, but also for warmth.

It all started with childhood memories. About the kitchen where grandmothers would make dumplings and the whole family would gather at one table. About the aroma of fresh dough, juicy filling, and comfort that can't be bought.

It was these memories that became the foundation of their work.

Over time, Andriy and Olya began to study recipes, experiment, hone technologies, and search for the same taste that reminds them of home. Thus was born Pierogarnia Ze Smakiem – a place where tradition combined with a modern approach, and each varenyky became a small story, made by hand.

But behind every beautiful story are moments that are usually not written about.

Once, a chef we trusted completely sold our dough recipe to restaurant owners abroad. It was painful. It seemed that along with the recipe, someone had taken a piece of the soul of our work. But that's when we realized the most important thing: a recipe can be copied. It's impossible to copy people, their work, experience, attention to detail, and the love they put into each varenyky.

There were other challenges. Days when the slightest mistake meant throwing away an entire batch of products. Equipment that broke at the most inopportune moment. Nights when you had to open the restaurant the next day and you were still standing in the kitchen finishing the last orders. Almost every entrepreneur knows such stories. It's just that not everyone talks about them.

And you know what's most surprising?

Our dumplings have long taken on a life of their own and traveled the world. People take them in suitcases to visit family and friends, freeze them before traveling, and carefully package them to treat those who miss the real taste of home.

The furthest our dumplings have traveled has been to South Africa, the USA, and Brazil. And every time we receive a photo from the other side of the world, we understand: a small family business from Wrocław has become a part of someone's memories far beyond Poland.

When I met Andriy and Oleya, what impressed me most was not the interior or the menu. What impressed me most was them themselves - their sincerity, hard work and attitude towards guests. And also Olena's perfectionism (but that's a separate story). It's clear that they live by their institution. Every detail here is created with love, and every decision is made with people in mind.

That is why, when you step through the threshold of Pierogarnia Ze Smakiem, you feel like a welcome guest, not a visitor.

And, perhaps, this is the main secret of their success. Not only in delicious dumplings or homemade recipes. I highly recommend taking a look at their menu - it surprises with the variety of flavors.

The secret is in the people who didn't give up. Who survived losses, mistakes, disappointments, but every morning opened the doors of their little varenychna again.

Because true taste is not born only from a recipe.
It is born from character.
